The FCC is closer to approving a nationwide FREE wireless broadband access. According to an AFP article [Yahoo Tech News], the FCC's Office of Engineering and Technology finds that utilizing the proposed AWS-3 [Advanced Wireless Service or 2155-2175 MHz] airwave band poses no significant interference with the current broadband already in use by cell phone companies, etc. (1)

Further, the article states, 'FCC chairman Kevin Martin has said repeatedly he favors extending free access to the Internet and has proposed auctioning off the portion of the spectrum that would be dedicated to free wireless use.

"There's a social obligation in making sure everybody can participate in the next generation of broadband services," Martin told the newspaper USA Today in an interview in August.'(1)

Once approved, 95 percent of the nation would be able to FREELY access the nationwide wireless broadband network!
